Country Wedding Ideas, Tips  and Decorations

County wedding themeDo you want a country wedding theme for your wedding? There’s something truly homey and rustic when it comes to holding country wedding. You can make your country outdoor wedding beautiful and special by careful planning and matching up of a few country themes. Here are a few suggestions and ideas on how to plan for a rustic country wedding.

Country wedding themes or for those that are looking for western wedding ideas, as with other outdoor weddings, are more laidback and easygoing in terms of the mood and overall effect. People are allowed to relax and enjoy witnessing the ceremony without being too formal. This casualness can be taken advantage of especially in country weddings, because that’s what being country is all about, not too much of formality. Thus there is a homey and laidback feel in all aspects of the outdoor wedding: from the venue to the decorations, to the attire, and even the extra special elements.

When choosing a location for your country wedding, one might first think of something related to the farm, such as a barn or a farmhouse (of course without the livestock). This area will provide ample space for a good amount of guests to be accommodated especially if the weather does not cooperate for your outdoor wedding. However, you can opt to hold your wedding outside in the open field, where there is even more space for your guests. Also you and your guests can enjoy some fresh air and perhaps a refreshing gust of wind outside. If you have time and resources you can provide a wedding arch made of dark wood or vines, and place some wildflowers for a nice focal point. Also holding the wedding within the boundaries of a country fence can also be a good visual embellishment and a good effect when the bride walks down the aisle. You can surround the fence with piles of hay with flowers for a nice effect.  Or you can tie ribbons on the fence which can sway with the wind for a nice graceful look.

Next will be the lighting for your country wedding. The venue can be illuminated by either lanterns or candles. A country setting is usually associated with checkered prints, which can be used on the tables. Eyelet lace or some embroidered cloth is also a fitting type of cloth placed over the table for a more graceful and feminine look. Or if you prefer an earthy or more rustic look, you can just leave wooden tables bare as they are, exposing the wood. So that the tables will not be too bare, you can place at the center some flowers, a good country example being sunflowers or daises, arranged in a vase.

Other decorative elements you can incorporate are some key country pieces and accessories. One good example is to make use of a horse drawn carriage to bring the bride and groom and whisk them away. In the venue you can make use of bales of hay or a wagon as accessories. Hay or wagons can be a good place to set your wedding gifts. You can place flowers in baskets or buckets instead of vases. You can also provide for a campfire like area where people can roast or barbecue.

Although it might appear as if it’s too “themed”, you can make a country outdoor wedding not too boxed or over the top by choosing the right kinds of country wedding decorations and adding just the right amount of special country touches. Remember that the wedding is not about the theme, but about the union of two people. Having a country themed wedding can add an extra special touch to the joyous occasion.
